What’s New in the 2020 Honda CR-V?
The CR-V is back for the 2020 model year with a stylish mid-generation exterior refresh, and an expanded list of technology and safety features. The exterior of the CR-V has been modernly smoothed out with strategic curves and lines. Inside the vehicle, the center console has been updated to be more user-friendly and accessible while driving. Excitingly, the Honda Sensing safety suite is available in each trim level of the CR-V, so safety is right at your fingertips. The CR-V continues to be impressively roomy inside, and trimmed with high-quality materials. Even more than the mid-generation refresh, Honda has also introduced a new hybrid powertrain for the CR-V, which has been the topic of a lot of buzz in the crossover class. The new Hybrid CR-V will run on a 212-horsepower 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder, which will make it wildly powerful and fuel-efficient in one.
A Brief History of the Honda CR-V
The CR-V first appeared on the North American market in 1997 and was introduced as a four-wheel drive vehicle. Just one year later, the two-wheel drive version joined the lineup. Throughout the first decade of the 2000s, the CR-V went through a variety of changes that increased cargo space, updated the interior design, and upgraded the engine offerings. In 2007, the CR-V underwent a major redesign that added a conventional liftgate and a 5-speed automatic transmission. In 2010, horsepower got a boost.
Today, the CR-V continues to win fans with each model year. Known as a spacious, capable compact crossover that is packed with desirable features and tons of value, the CR-V easily holds its place in a crowded segment as one of the best options in the class.
